ENLIGHTENMENT BY SELF-INQUIRY–pt107
[The Teaching of Non-Duality has been adapted from
Master Nome, disciple of Sri Ramana Maharshi.]
In the Truth of No-Creation, in which there are no
suppositions, no doctrines, & no ideas of any kind, there is no question of
action. One Consciousness, when viewed from the perspective of the Universe
appearing or existing, is called God, or the Supreme Lord. When viewed in terms
of everything being only within the Mind, the same Consciousness is called the
Witness. When known as it is, it is called pure, Non-Dual Consciousness. In relation to the Universe, it is God. In
relation to the Mind, it is the Witness, which includes being the Witness of
the whole Universe.
Partless Existence, which is the Self, is beyond the
changeful appearances in the Mind. So, how can the Senses be considered to be
the Self ? The Senses are part of the
Body. The Body is perceived only by the Senses & has no reality apart from
them. Each Illusion (Body & Senses)
depends on the other. Such Illusion is like the "painting of a wall that is painted on the wall depicted when the wall
itself has not yet been built." The Self is bodiless & is not a
part of the Body or associated with a location in relation to a Body, unlike
the Senses. So, how can the Senses be considered to be the Self ?
