ENLIGHTENMENT BY SELF-INQUIRY–pt175
[The Teaching of Non-Duality has been adapted from Master Nome, disciple of Sri Ramana Maharshi. Sections appended below derive from Sri Ramana's Teaching.]
Sri Ramana Maharshi refers to Self-Realization as
the Natural State
(sahaja). The state of complete Freedom, of complete &
indestructible Peace, & of complete inward Satisfaction or Joy is the Natural
State (sahaja). It is not natural
for anyone to feel bound, feel
agitated, or suffer. This is why, when a
person feels that way, he or she makes an effort, be it considered worldly or
spiritual, to get beyond such. It is an
intuition of what is the Natural State
(sahaja), True
State of the Self.
Realization is the result of the Guru’s Grace more than
teachings, lectures, meditation, etc. They
are only secondary aids, whereas the former (the Guru’s Grace) is the primary & essential cause.
Obstacles that hinder Realization of the Self are habits of
mind (vasanas). Overcome the mental
habits (vasanas) by realizing the
Self.
