On a path of Self-Knowledge, discrimination signifies the ability to discern what is true & also implies the ability to determine what is false or unreal. By so discerning, or discriminating, one pursues Truth to realize it & destroys the Dream of Illusion or Ignorance. Ignorance creates Suffering. What destroys Ignorance reveals blissful Freedom, or Liberation. Ignorance is destroyed when one discerns that it is, indeed, Ignorance & not the Truth. Ignorance exists & is binding only if one conjures it up & believes it. If, by discrimination, one discerns its unreality, or false nature, Ignorance no longer binds & ceases to exist.
In the place of Ignorance then, there is found real Knowledge, which is Knowledge of the Reality itself. Just as one, wishing to arrive somewhere, needs first to know where it is that he wishes to go & how to proceed to that place, so too one needs to recognize the place of arrival, which is the highest Truth. One likewise needs to recognize the means to so arrive, which is Knowledge, & also recognize the traveler, which is oneself, & that all these are in the same “place”, of the same essential nature, & are, indeed, the very same Supreme Being.
Regardless of what names are given to the Supreme, what symbols are used, & what practices are utilized, certain views are assumed around which all these revolve. These understanding, Views, or beliefs pertain to the Absolute, the Self and what is regarded as real, which in many cases will be the world, or worlds. The great Sage Sri Shankara observed that one could hold any of 4 Views. One can adhere to an UQD Un-Qualified Duality view. This means sheer Duality without any exception. One can process it possess a view of QD Qualified Duality this is a belief in Duality with some exceptions.
One may hold a view of UQND Qualified Non-Duality. That is, some Non-Duality while retaining some exceptions or Duality. One can embrace pure Un-Qualified Non-Duality. The view to which one adheres will determine what kinds of spiritual experiences are engaged in & how they are practiced. These are not only basic views, forming one's beliefs, determining the manner practice in the resulting experiences, but also represent degrees of depth, or height, of spiritual experience. Each succeeding one is more of the Truth, less of the Ego, more of Liberation, less of Bondage, more of Knowledge, and less of unexamined Ignorance.

[A brief note of explanation – the other Blog noted below is entitled "Non-Duality & Science", & so the more Science oriented pages (from what I like to think of as a "comic book") have been posted there, while other chapters have been posted here. Science is a mental discipline that attracts some worthy admirers & participators. Some of these, too few, are good prospects for the ancient teaching introduced here in many ways. Otherwise certain Science topics like the Anthropic Principle, reinforce the general Theism which is a good idea in this materialistic age. A few other topics in Science, such as the Copenhagen II – Max Born – Von Neumann – Wigner model of Quantum Mechanics, are worthy entries to the extent that they introduce Consciousness into the physical Sciences. All that aside, the real topic here is the pinnacle as Advaita Vedanta, Non-Duality – that pinnacle being Ajata Vada, No–Creation. The great Teachers of the same include Sri Shankara & Sri Ramana Maharshi. Both would support Theism in general & adaptations of Vedanta, such as Vishishtadvaita Vedanta – Qualified Non-Duality, for those not making headway in Ajata Vada, their present course of growth might be better served with a temporary involvement in Qualified Non-Duality. The scientist who perhaps best expresses the influence of Qualified Non-Duality in Science, for instance, would be the quintessential "New–Age" Quantum Physicist, Amit Goswami. And so to that source, & the Quantum Activism he currently advocates [with a 1–course degree program], along with more than a half-dozen good books & former participation in the controversial What the Bleep movie, to him I extend enthusiastic endorsement, for that Qualified Non-Duality described in the context of Science. I do not stand so much "with him", as much as nearby saluting his good work. Again, as here, the goal is inserting Consciousness into Science & "saving the World."]
