ENLIGHTENMENT BY SELF-INQUIRY–pt136
We have never actually experienced sensing. We have experienced only the state of Mind that composes
those Senses. All of that has just been
in the Mind. The entire objective scene,
even if thought to be external & even the thought "that it is
external," is also part of this instrument of the Mind. Who sees the Mind
is the Self, formless, without instrument, without form, without shape, without
definition, & without a Seer, without difference, absolutely One, perfectly
Full, & Limitless. There is no "space" for anything else, other,
or outside. There is no division, such as the Seer & the Seen. Only he who
knows himself as he really is knows what the seen is. Otherwise, one
merely thinks of what one sees.
There is no Knower
other than the Self. This is the
all-comprehensive Knower, which is the Absolute Consciousness itself,
ever-free, homogeneous, Non-Dual & Space-like, & which is realized when
the illusory objective aspect has
been negated. The Knower can never be the Known. As all that is Known is subject to
destruction, but the essence of the Knower can never not exist.

Since the un–Self-Realized ajnani, though he is not really the Doer, imagines himself to be
the Doer & considers the actions of the Body to be his own actions. He thinks the Self-Realized jnani to be similarly acting when the Body is active.
But the Self-Realized jnani himself
knows the Truth & is not confused.
The state of a Self-Realized jnani cannot be determined by the
ajnani & therefore the question troubles only the ajnani & never arises for the jnani. If
one is a Doer he must determine the nature of the actions. The Self cannot be
the Doer. Find out who is the Doer [said to be the Body, is contrarywise –
God – depending on the
perspective taken up] & the Self is revealed.
