ENLIGHTENMENT BY SELF-INQUIRY–pt122
t is obvious that all Illusion is for the "I", the
source. The "I"-notion comes
first. Find the root of this
"I"-assumption, or "I"-notion. Trace your own sense of existence, seemingly individualized, to its Core & see
what is there. Who are you ? If in
Truth, you have always been & always will be the undifferentiated Existence, the real Self, your supposed Bondage
has never been real. If "who"
you are is this real Self, of the nature of Existence-Consciousness-Bliss, all
that has been apparently experienced
by you has indeed NOT been experienced by you at all. Your real Existence has remained ever still,
completely detached, ever Formless, & without state or condition.
Duality appears only in those states and is thus not real,
for what is real must be real always. By relinquishing the superimposition of
the known on the knower, one abides as the Non-Dual Knower, the unceasing
Consciousness, always. Prior to the discrimination of the Self and the
non-Self, one may think that the Absolute does not exist, one may think that it
is not experienced, or one may doubt that it alone exists. After such
discriminating inquiry, what was thought of as an individual self is known to
be only Brahman, and there is no individual self, or mind, which so thought.
Upon such inquiry, the experiential knowledge is that only the Self, Brahman,
is, and the individual and the mind are only Brahman and nothing else.
[Ramana]
Why worry yourself about the World &
what happens to it after Self-Realization ?
First realize the Self. What does
it matter if the World is perceived or not ?
Do you gain anything to help you in your quest for Self-Knowledge by the
non-perception of the World during
Deep Dreamless Sleep ? Conversely, what
would you lose now by the perception of the World ? It is quite immaterial to the Self-Realized jnani
or ajnani if he perceives the World or not. It is seen by both, but their view-points
differ.
