REALIZING NON–DUAL LIBERATION, ENLIGHTENMENT BY SELF-INQUIRY–pt20

Examine what you regard as your very Identity [a body, a personality, …]. In Truth, you cannot be other than the Self.  So practice Self-Inquiry with full intensity, full purpose, & full perseverance. For any alternative such as “habitual,” “lazy,” or “wrong thinking” –  there is no valid support for it.  There is no valid cause for it.  It does not stand on Truth. In Truth, you cannot be other than the Self. So, inquire as to what makes you assume that  you can be other than the Self.  This Self-Inquiry should be directed centrally along the lines of, “Who am I ?”  Once turned inward to oneself, discard [net, neti] erroneous identifications like the Body, Mind, Senses, Prana, Ego, World.  Then employ 90% of the time & effort into "fathoming" that self, until it is clearly the Self.

The source of the Desire for Happiness is not from external phenomena of any kind.  It is not from objects, circumstances, other beings, & such. There is, therefore, nothing alluring. The desire, itself, is not a bodily sensation. It is not particular thoughts, though particular thoughts constituting images in the Mind may appear by which the Desire manifests. The Desire itself is simply the urge from within to be in the Natural State of limitless Bliss. The intensity of the Desire is continually surging forth. It cannot be subdued, & the attempt to do so would merely be an unsuccessful one to fulfill it.  It can be fulfilled only by Self-Realization, which is remaining as Bliss itself.  Bliss is of the very nature of the Self, & the Self is truly without any Desire. When the Self is not known &, by Delusion, suffering becomes possible. With the appearance of an Ego–"I", the Natural State seems lost.  Then that very Bliss of the Self manifests as the intuition of one's Natural, True State, & this intuition appears as the Desire for Happiness.
